For the Source submission, I decided to submit a project that has become quite close to my heart, which included Jake’s Nan as she passed away earlier this year. I was very happy with the project as I dug quite deep into her life and managed to get archival images of her from a very young age. Now that she is no longer with us, I feel this project has so much more meaning and power fullness to it. When submitting it, I added in a small amount of text which said -
On September 5th 1943, the world was blessed with the birth of Jill Marlene Moore, a beautiful soul who sadly passed away on January 14th 2021. 77 wonderful years of life. I became very close with Jake’s Nan as we had a lot in common, we would sit and chat for hours and hours. The more I learnt about her life the more intrigued I was to learn more about her before her diagnosis with Parkinson’s disease in 2009. This led me to begin this series which is a documentation of her life and her struggles when she was diagnosed with this dreadful illness. I am so very glad that I was able to complete this project before her passing.
